The Ever-Evolving Website

Since January 2002 I've used blandcanyon.com to showcase my photography and to tinker with website construction. I started out with some snapshots of the local wildlife and hand-coded HTML pages. Later I tried a photoblog using Wordpress. As my photography skills improved, I moved my photos to photo-hosting site Zenfolio, and built a simple PHP front-end while I pondered what to do next.

The 2009 version of blandcanyon.com is built with Drupal, an open source content management system which can be used to build just about any kind of website imaginable. The photos remain hosted at Zenfolio, but the front-end blog site you're reading now is Drupal.

Why Drupal? I've used it for other projects, so I was already familiar with the framework. I considered moving everything over to Flickr, but I like the control I have with Drupal and the gallery structure at Zenfolio.

If you're a Drupal developer and want to know which modules I'm using, leave a comment and I'll put together the list for you.

My goal over the years has been to make it easier to share my photos on the web and express my thoughts about photography and perhaps other topics. I think I've found the right combination, at least for now.
